2016 BMW M2 gets positive reviews for impressive performance and features

2016 BMW M2 has received positive reviews from automobile experts. The 2016 BMW M2 was launched at Laguna Seca race track in California. The turbocharged BMW M2 offers 370 BHP from 3.0 litre straight-six engine. The car reaches 0-60 miles/hour in just 4.2 seconds. The six-speed manual transmission needs 4.4 seconds to reach 0-60.

Priced at $51,700, 2016 BMW M2 is $14,000 cheaper than M4 Coupe. The powerful beast was showcased by BMW in Detroit last month. With its strong performance, BMW M2 has certainly impressed automobile reviewers.

In a PC World review of BMW M2, Editor-in-Chief Jon Phillips said, “Let’s hit pause on the driverless tech discussion. The BMW M2 uses hardcore German engineering to form a blockade against the forward march of robot-driven cars.” These comments actually sum up what others have to say about the performance car. Surely, the car will bring back the driving enthusiasm for many. Instead of going in for driverless cars, BMW M2 makes you feel like going on long drives.

BMW M2 offers 365 horsepower, nearly 43 horsepower more than M235i Coupe. M2 is also 95 Kg lighter than M235i while the engine in both the cars is of same size.

A SlashGear review said, “BMW had both gearbox options for us to try, with the dual-clutch M DCT for the track and the 6-speed manual for the road. With the former, Sport+ mode reins in all but the most aggressive of the electronics, though you can bypass them altogether if you prefer. With the seven-speed DCT, the M2 does 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, while the six-speed manual is 0.2 seconds slower.”

Mark Richardson from Auto Focus said, “In its size bracket, the only comparable premium performance compact coupe is the Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG, which retails for $51,800. That seems a lot less expensive, but it quickly becomes a similar price once you start adding options that come as standard with the BMW.”

With 343 pound-feet of torque kicking in at 1,400 rpm, the car offers great driving experience. M2 delivers 365 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 343 pound-feet torque between 1,400 – 5,560 rpm. Under overboost function, the car increases the torque to 369 pound-feet. The car is simply another example of amazing German engineering.

BMW has made extensive use of aluminum in the 2016 BMW M2 to make the car lighter and improve performance.

BMW Blog informed, “The 2016 BMW M2 will be available at authorized BMW centers starting at $51,700 plus Destination and Handling starting in April 2016. The M2 Pace Car featured the Sapphire Black Metallic with a Motorsport livery while the Long Beach Blue was the predominant. An Alpina White M2 was brought out half-way into the tracking sessions and a Mineral Grey M2 took a back seat in the M tent.”
