A man went on a shooting rampage in the US state of Kansas this evening (Feb. 25), killing three people and injuring 14 others. He was killed by law enforcement responding to the emergency.

The attack occurred at the manufacturing facilities of Excel Industries, a lawn care company, in the city of Hesston, about 35 miles (56 km) north of Wichita, the state’s largest city. It began around 5pm local time, with police killing the shooter 30 to 45 minutes later. The attacker was armed with a long rifle and a handgun.

Local news stations identified him as Cedric Ford, 38, an employee of the company with a criminal history. He had a Facebook page with photos of his guns.

Mass shootings have become a regular occurrence in the United States, which has far more of them than most nations in part because of its relatively lax gun laws. Last December over a dozen people were killed at a shooting in San Bernardino, California, and last weekend six people were shot by an Uber driver.
