Adrian Peterson: Vikings have ‘good chance’ to ‘win everything’ in 2016 – ESPN

Adrian Peterson believes the Minnesota Vikings‘ time to contend for a Super Bowl is now, not a few years away as some might believe.

“We are going to have a good chance to win it this year — win everything,” the running back told “Sit back and watch. Sit back and watch. You can be like, ‘I thought you guys were at least a couple of years away.’ Nope. You sit back and watch, this year.”

Following this year’s draft, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook listed the Vikings’ odds to win the Super Bowl at 18-1.

The Vikings returned to the playoffs last season for the first time in three years, buoyed by Peterson’s return to the field following his 2014 suspension. Peterson won the NFL rushing title last season with 1,485 yards, his third rushing crown of his career.

Despite that honor, Peterson called the season a disappointment, “because I know I can do more. Honest, it was,” he told the website.

He told that winning another rushing title is a “seed that’s been planted,” but his No. 1 focus is on winning a championship.

“Everything in me is championship, championship and then breaking records. It’s a part of me. I am pushing myself to the max to win a Super Bowl, and then to break Emmitt’s record and Eric Dickerson’s [single-season rushing] record,” he told the website. “It is my everyday life, what I think of every day. Mostly it’s that Super Bowl. Then the whole world will remember you.”

Peterson, who has 11,675 yards in his career, needs 6,681 yards to break Smith’s career rushing yards record (18,355 yards). Dickerson set the single-season rushing record with 2,105 yards for the Los Angeles Rams in 1984. Peterson challenged the record in 2012 when he won the second of his three rushing titles and finished with 2,097 yards.
