There has been exciting news from Disney Channel that “High School Musical 4” is in the works. The Hollywood Reporter reported on March 1, 2016, Disney channel is planning “High School Musical 4.” Disney Channel is officially beginning casting for the movie which is the next in the highly successful movie series.

The announcement for “High School Musical 4” has come a decade after the first movie in the series debuted on Disney Channel. The first movie became one of the biggest hits for the network and sold millions of soundtracks. “High School Musical 2” debuted a year later followed by “High School Musical 3” which first premiered in movie theaters in 2008. There has been a rumor the fourth film was being planned ever since 2010.

Just Jared has reported it’s official that Disney Channel is making another “High School Musical” movie. The new movie will introduce new East High Wildcats and their rivals across town, the West High Knights. Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, has said “High School Musical” is part of the DNA of Disney Channel. He has gone on to say it embodies everything Disney stands for.

CBS reports Disney is going back to high school as it begins casting for “High School Musical 4.” It’s true that Disney is returning to the very lucrative “High School Musical” theme. The soundtrack for the first movie in this series became the first TV movie soundtrack which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200.

The sequel for “High School Musical” has held onto the record as the most-watched basic cable telecast ever with about 18.6 million viewers. This delightfully entertaining theme really does embody everything we like to think Disney stands for and helps to bring us all back to our best times in high school for awhile.
