How To Test Your Cycling Fitness – Sprint Power, VO2 Max & Threshold Power

Testing your fitness levels allows you to monitor your progress and find out how much faster you’re getting!

Cycling fitness tests – when performed at regular intervals throughout the year – enable you to build up a really clear idea of what training you need to do, what training has worked for you, and, just how much you’ve come on since your last set of tests.

Cycling is a varied sport, so we can’t just rely on one measure of fitness. To get a broad picture of where you’re at, we recommend testing (and calculating) three metrics: your sprint power, VO2 Max (aerobic capacity) and your threshold power.

All of these tests and measures will help you to improve. Have a go at the tests and let us know how you get on down in the comments.
