Johnson Controls Inc. on Wednesday named an executive in its building efficiency business to lead the company’s business operations in China.
Trent Nevill was named a corporate vice president and president of Asia Pacific and also was named a corporate officer, the company said.
He will be based at the company’s Shanghai office that the company has dubbed its second corporate headquarters. Johnson Controls, which is based in Glendale, is Wisconsin’s largest company based on sales.
China is a significant and growing focus for growth for Johnson Controls. The company moved in 2014 to station two of its corporate officers there, including Beda Bolzenius, then the company’s vice chairman. The company announced in February that Bolzenius, who is the second-highest ranking executive in the automotive business Johnson is spinning off, is leaving the company this month.
Nevill has been with the company since 1995. In his most recent role, he has been vice president and general manager of the systems and services business in North America for the heating and cooling equipment and controls business.
“Johnson Controls has made a strategic commitment to China, as we continue to invest in our business there and build capabilities coincident with our new headquarters in Shanghai,” said Alex Molinaroli, chairman and chief executive officer, Johnson Controls, in a statement. “Trent’s experience with the company and demonstrated ability as a seasoned leader in our buildings business make him uniquely qualified to lead our Asia Pacific team through the next phase of growth for Johnson Controls in the region.”
