Empire Magazine has bestowed upon us the newest blast of official information from Captain America: Civil War, the next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this May.

What we know about the movie in an official capacity can only be gleaned from the existing trailers: the new line-up of the Avengers, lead by Captain America (Chris Evans) falls into conflict with Thaddius Ross (William Hurt) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) over both the Sokovia Accords regulating superheroes and Cap’s brainwashed best friend Bucky/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). We also know the movie will introduce us to The Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland). One of those is glimpsed out of his mask for the first time below.

The new info dump comes from Empire Magazine’s upcoming issue that focuses on Civil War. Not only were official images released by the mag, but scans from the subscriber’s version of the issue have also made their way online with some bits of information from the greater piece.

Joe Russo, co-director of this movie and the upcoming Infinity War two-part Avengers film talked about the consequence of Civil War as the first of Marvel’s Phase 3 movies. “The consequences of Civil War will have an even more significant impact [than The Winter Soldier]. In Civil War, we’re going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s psychology, and it’s an extreme shift.” Also discussing the tone of Civil War he said, “Winter Soldier was a political thriller; this is a psychological thriller.”

The above photo of Captain America in some sort of Russian base suggests that Steve’s search for information about Bucky’s tragic past (or The Winter Soldier’s legacy) will end up globe hopping for answers.

Then again, the globe-hopping part might be built into his ongoing duties with The Avengers that will be portrayed earlier on in the film in an action sequence where Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Flacon (Anthony Mackie) and Captain America clean up one of the messes made at the end of Winter Solider, Crossbones (Frank Grillo).

This sequence takes place outside of America, though the locale isn’t specific, one of the official images released by Empire is the first look at Grillo’s Crossbones in his proper villain costume (In Winter Soldier he just appeared as a Hydra agent undercover at S.H.I.E.L.D.)

Joe Russo also says in the published interview that Captain America: Civil War will have a “very dramatic ending that will be controversial for a lot of people.” If you’re in for some big spoilers about how we think the movie is going to end, now is a good time for you to click over to our Civil War spoiler story.

Spoiler-phobes fear not, the rest of the new photos don’t show us anything plot-related, though we did get our first looks at Chadwick Boseman as a maskless T’Challa, The Black Panther and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross.

This is technically the first confirmation we’ve had that Freeman is playing Everett Ross, though his name was at the top of the rumor mill as far as possible character names. Ross will be part of the “Joint Counter Terrorist Centre,” according to Empire (shouldn’t that be the Joint Counter Terrorism Centre?).

Freeman is pictured here next to Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), Peggy’s daughter. The police that are behind them are German police, suggesting Cap will go back to the place where he transitioned from USO flag-waver to actual superhero back in World War II.

The best look yet at Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch was also officially released, showing off her official Civil War outfit with black boots and red corset.

Otherwise, the coolest news presented in Empire is that Gweneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts was part of the scheduled reshoots for Civil War. That means that we finally get to see what happened to the character after Iron Man 3. It also means that whatever the reshoots were complicated Tony’s story a little, which is nice to hear considering how Steve-centric the rest of the plot will probably be.

Captain America: Civil War comes out May 6th, 2016 and basically no one but Black Panther and Spider-Man are safe.
