Ray Anthony Lewis III, son of former Ravens linebacker and current ESPN analyst Ray Lewis, was charged Friday morning in Conway, South Carolina, on one count of criminal sexual misconduct.
Lewis, 20, a Coastal Carolina football player, turned himself in Friday morning and was then processed and released on a $10,000 bond.
According to Conway police, the alleged incident took place on Jan. 23 at an apartment near the campus. The warrant alleges that Lewis engaged in sexual battery of an 18-year-old woman while she was mentally incapacitated and/or physically helpless from the use of drugs and/or alcohol.
The charge is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 10 years.
Police declined to comment further on the case. Lewis, of Apopka, Fla., transferred to Coastal Carolina, an FCS power, from Miami in 2015. He played 12 games last season as a cornerback and made 14 solo tackles.
Lewis never played at Miami — his father’s alma mater — and was suspended when the Hurricanes played a 2013 bowl game during his redshirt season.
