Word that the Ravens would bring in running back Trent Richardson first appeared in February and coach John Harbaugh later said that the team had an “unofficial” deal in place with the former first-round pick of the Browns.
That deal has now become official. The Ravens announced the deal after Richardson worked out for the team on Monday morning before the team’s offseason workouts got underway.
Richardson said recently that he is coming to Baltimore “ready to work” after having problems staying motivated during his earlier stops in Cleveland, Indianapolis and Oakland. He never played in a regular season game for the Raiders last season and posted 519 yards on 159 carries with the Colts in 2014.
Richardson will have a chance to compete for a roster spot with the Ravens. Justin Forsett, Buck Allen, Terrence West and Lorenzo Taliaferro are also on hand so Richardson will have to show he’s taken some positive steps since he was last on the field in order to land one.
